POSITION TITLE:, Education Engagement Partner, Technical Design & Instruction
REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Career Pathways
LOCATION: Bronx, New York
Per Scholas is seeking a Education Engagement Partner, Technical Design & Instruction to support its Youth Career Pathways initiative. The Education Engagement Partner will join a small team at Per Scholas that is launching a new initiative that partners with high schools to design and implement programs that expose students to careers in tech. This is a position that will require you to balance your time between our Bronx location and schools within the surrounding community.
This role focuses on instructional design, professional development, and classroom implementation support. You will play a significant role in launching a school-facing technical and work-based learning curriculum geared towards high school age youth and young adults. Classroom engagement and instruction will be required. You will:
+ Collaborate with the Manager of Technical Design and Instruction as well as high school teachers to implement course content, design and revise curriculum, and produce training guides that expose students to Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and other technical career pathways.
+ Incorporate instructional design principles in the development of lesson plans, assessments, and tutorials to meet students' learning needs.
+ Contribute to the development and implementation of work-based learning and other high school programs.
+ Manage partnerships with teachers to guide the delivery of curriculum to high school students.
+ Co-teach, model, and lead instruction with high school teachers.
+ Research new technology trends to ensure that work-based learning remains current.
+ As a member of internal team, support all aspects of program implementation.
+ Participate in outreach with teenagers and young adults who are interested in pursuing postsecondary careers in tech.
Professional Qualifications:
+ Associates Degree or higher in Computer Science or Mathematics, or equivalent combination of education and experience,
+ 1-2 years of experience designing introductory technical content,
+ 1-2 years of experience teaching youth or young adult populations,
+ Experience with curriculum and syllabus development and lesson planning for the high school level,
+ Technical knowledge in one (or more) of the following fields: IT, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or Software Engineering
+ Ability to distill complex concepts for diverse audiences who have limited or no prior exposure to technical training.
+ Experience designing and leading professional development for secondary teachers is preferred.
