AWS Cloud Architect

Visual Lease is currently seeking an AWS Cloud Architect with extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a member of the Cloud Operations team, the Cloud Architect will support various hands-on operational responsibilities which include: documenting operational procedures, building and configuring new cloud environments, configuring build and deploy pipelines, data backups and recovery, patching, monitoring application health and performance, investigating and resolving production incidents. Additionally, the Cloud Architect will lead efforts around cloud design, service implementation, and automating our infrastructure – all with a focus on security, scalability, and high availability. The Cloud Architect will evolve our layered security architecture, and our monitoring strategy in our AWS environment. He/she will partner and influence the engineering team to increasingly adopt: cloud-native services, application architectures which support security and scalability, and design considerations that manage infrastructure cost. The ideal candidate will serve as a senior technical leader respected for their vision and problem solving skills, and considered a Cloud SME within the company. He/she is able to understand both application and infrastructure requirements and develop solutions that meet in the middle. The ideal candidate must be a strong communicator and influencer able to disseminate strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and must be able to build strong relationships across departments and support larger business goals. Job Description 1.) What You Will Do: Act as Cloud Operations team lead – helping to guide Cloud Engineering staff toward best practices, and strong documentation Provide Cloud Operations oversight, helping with planning, sizing, and project resourcing when needed As a technology though leader, continue to stay abreast of latest Cloud technologies and industry best practices in order to evangelize and drive innovative solutions and operational efficiencies Learn the Visual Lease SaaS application and underlying technologies stack, and help drive the cloud design and infrastructure plan both short and long-term Support the product roadmap by consulting with Production Management and Engineering teams for requirements discovery, technical design, implementation and monitoring needs Produce high-quality technical designs, and implement in AWS with Security, Scalability, Availability, and Monitoring in mind Support deploy, and configure tooling to support continuous integrations & continuous delivery pipelines Engage in projects as needed, work collaboratively with other team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to team success Lead technical discussions both internally and with external customer teams Support our customer-facing teams with root cause analysis and resolution of escalated technical issues Professionally represent engineering cross-departmentally and with customers or vendors 2.) What You Will Need: 6+ years of IT operations, Cloud Operations, or DevOps experience 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience including design, operations, automation, monitoring, security 2+ AWS Certifications Seasoned solutions architect experienced at designing and implementing cloud-based or cloud-native solutions for Production workloads Experience using AWS Cloud Formation, AWS EC2, VPC, S3, Lambda, and other native services Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Configuration as Code (CaC) tools and best practices Experience with the following is desired: Microservices and microservice architecture Scripting: Powershell, Python, Shell or Bash, SQL, JSON or YAML Databases: SQLServer, Postgress, MySQL, Amazon Aurora, RDS OS: Windows, Linux system administration Code/Build: Git/GitHub, CircleCI, Jenkins, Automation & Orchestration: Ansible, Packer, Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation Testing: Selenium, xUnit, API Fortress, SonarQube Monitoring: AWS Config, AWS Cloud Watch, New Relic, AppDynamics Hands-on experience leading and mentoring technical teams is valuable Excellent communication and organizational skills that stand-up to a fast pace environment A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline ? 3.)
